Summary:

Join the New England Eating Disorders Program at Sweetser! As a member of the clinical team, you will provide high-quality, specialized dietitian counseling, assessment, and education to adults and adolescents with eating disorders and their families. 

Flexible schedule.  Aspects of this position can be done remotely!  This is a part time, 24-30 hour a week position. 

Unique Training Opportunity! This position allows the opportunity to work under a leadership team that combined has over 5 1/2 decades of experience treating and researching eating disorders, and alongside a treatment team of expert eating disorder clinicians, dietitians, and nursing staff. Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional care of all program participants in the New England Eating Disorder Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assesses patients using nutritional screening tools to provide age-appropriate treatment recommendations related to level of risk, medical concerns, dietary conditions, and nutritional and medical history.
  • Expertly provides information about eating disorders and nutrition and actively seeks reliable and valid psychoeducation resources to share with patients, families, and team members.
  • Clearly and appropriately communicates dietary recommendations and education to individuals and families, relying on expert dietary knowledge to guide clinical interventions.
  • On a daily basis, closely monitors patients’ dietary intake, weight changes, and other eating disorder symptoms, both during and following the treatment day, and swiftly makes dietary recommendations and initiates menu changes.
  • Independently facilitates the meal and snack program by closely communicating with the kitchen about food orders and other program needs, as well as communicating with nursing staff about food serving and preparation needs.
  • Conducts effective group dietitian psychoeducation sessions, exhibiting a consistent commitment to staying within the bounds of one’s scope of practice.
  • Exhibits an ability to engage patients and support people using an interpersonal style appropriate for dietitian care and behavioral modification.
  • Exhibits an ability to independently meet all documentation requirements within appropriate timeframes, utilizing skilled clinical writing.
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload, recognizing one’s own needs and the needs of the program.
  • Applies the Health at Every Size principles in care provided.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Must have the discipline and flexibility to operate within a multidisciplinary team.   
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must possess a high degree of analytical and problem solving skills.

EDUCATION:
RD or RD eligible.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• State of Maine Licensure as a Dietitian
• Maintains registration status through the American Dietetic Association
• Maintain a valid state driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE:
1 year clinical experience preferred.
